Last week, the United States Congress took up voting on the DREAM Act. What is the DREAM Act? If you are reading this then you probably already know. For supporters of the DREAM Act, last week was a victory. However, the victory is not complete and without further action last week’s victory will be for nothing.
Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the DREAM Act. The Senate, however, did not vote. The Senate was unable to obtain the required 60 votes that it needed to close the debate and call for a vote. Since the Senate was unable to vote, it instead decided to table the DREAM Act until this week. Now, hopefully, the Senate will be able to reach a vote and pass the DREAM Act.
